Article IX – PERFORMANCES AND REHEARSALS


Section 1 – Performance – The primary activity of the Society shall be performance by the chorus. Any member may suggest a performance venue or forward a performance request to the President. Performance proposals will be considered by the Board of Directors and Chorus Director, and if approved, will be voted on by Chorus Members. Recommendation of performance by the Board of Directors may include minimum numbers of singers necessary for participation.

Clause A – Performance Schedule – The Society shall perform at biennial Sangerfests, the annual Nordic Fest in Decorah, and an annual Christmas Concert. There are no other prescribed performances. However, other annual performances in recent years include Lenten services, a Luren-Norsemen Concert, and the Vesterheim Christmas event.

Clause B – Performance Tours – Performance tours shall be considered in the same manner as an individual performance.

Section 2 – Rehearsal Schedule – The traditional rehearsal schedule is Monday evening, from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m., September through May, at the Decorah High School, with a break from the Christmas Concert through December. Summer concerts may require additional rehearsals. The rehearsal schedule may be modified at any time by vote of the Chorus Members.
